Massage therapy treatments
Holistic & Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
Holistic Massage is highly relaxing and based on Swedish massage techniques. The massage strokes tend to be longer and more fluid, whilst shorter, smaller strokes are used to warm up the muscles and reduce any tension or ‘knots’ in the muscles and connective tissues. The massages are relaxing & with the additional focus applied to the knots, this helps to disperse any tightness in the area and encourage more localised blood flow into the muscle.
Sports Massage is frequently used for the prevention and recovery of sports and activity related injuries and can play a very useful role during training and in the run up to and recovery period from a sports event. However, it is not only beneficial to the sports person as the techniques used can also help to alleviate and prevent general day to day and work related aches and pains. Sitting at a desk all day places pressure on your back, neck and shoulders which can lead to muscle imbalance and tension.
This type of massage is designed to release muscle tension and is commonly used to increase joint and tissue flexibility throughout the body. Sports Massage can use a variety of techniques for a variety of injuries and conditions. Techniques such as, soft tissue release, myofascial release and neuromuscular techniques are often used.
Old injuries also benefit from sports massages as the process breaks down scar tissue and the technique stimulates blood flow in the body. This increase in blood flow helps the healing process of the damaged tissue wherever that may be.
Holistic/Sports massage will help to:
Improve the condition of your muscles
Remove lactic acid build-up
